| Christ Evangelical Bible Institute's primary mission is to train and equip disenfranchised Christians for responsible full and part-time ministry. "Disenfranchised" here includes those who are economically deprived, disabled, minority, and/or discriminated against because of caste, gender identity, or sexual orientation. | CEBI's mission also includes spreading the gospel message to nonbelievers, especially those who have been disenfranchised, outcast and rejected by mainstream Christianity (i.e., traditional congregations). |

| The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry (CLGS) is a recently established center of Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. The Center serves three distinct but overlapping constituencies: the world of academic religious scholarship; faith communities; and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people and organizations. CLGS is purposed toward developing programming in each of four major areas: Research, Resourcing, Education for Leadership, and Community-Building/Advocacy. All programming works to carry out the Center's fundamental mission: To advance the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people and to transform faith communities and the wider society by taking a leading role in shaping a new public discourse on religion and sexuality through education, research, community building and advocacy. |

Homosexuality and Religion No topic is more divisive in the religious world today than the issue of homosexuality. The status and level of inclusion of gays and lesbians in communities of faith is a question of debate in many major denominations and religious groups. This section does not attempt to support one position or another, although the Institute and Hartford Seminary affirm the worth of all people regardless of sexual orientation and the full inclusion of everyone in God's community. Rather, this section provides articles and research on the intersection of homosexuality and religion. We also provide links to numerous groups that work to affirm gay religious rights and those which oppose this. |

The mission of Faith In America, Inc. is the emancipation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from bigotry disguised as religious truth. The world’s great religious traditions practiced within the United States of America emphasize the love of neighbor as well as the love of God. Compassion, justice, freedom, and respect for the dignity of all people are their most authentic and noble expressions.
However, in the United States, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are victims of religious teachings based on ignorance and fear instead of knowledge and respect. This abuse of religion influences all aspects of public life in America, including civil laws and social attitudes. Because of it, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are denied equal rights and protection under civil law. They are discriminated against and socially ostracized. Physical violence against them is incited. In order to end the persecution of gay people in America, religious teachings that justify bigotry must be publicly exposed and denounced. |

Our mission is to help return Christianity to the kind of love and acceptance Jesus taught. We believe that all Christians are to be ministers in the world, not just those who are ordained. Our educational programming is designed to empower believers to minister in a non-judgmental, accepting, and inclusive way. |
