Hi There,
I've always really enjoyed reading coming out stories.
These stories serve two purposes, first they provide entertainment,
and second, they give me a feeling of encouragement, letting me know
that I'm not alone in the coming out process.
So one night, I was searching around on the web looking for
coming out stories and the idea of www.comingoutstories.com was
born.
Here's how this works. The mission of www.comingoutstories.com
is to provide a SAFE and encouraging place for Gays
and Lesbians to post their coming out stories. To post your story,
click on Post a story and start typing! Know that NO discouraging or
hurtful words will be alowed here, and that by posting your story,
you could very well help somebody who is struggling with coming out!
Also know that a lot of coming out stories are painful events to
recount, and that not all coming out stories are happy ones. That's
okay! My goal is to include the bad with the good so as to give the
reader a realistic idea of what it is like to come out. One more
thing, be reassured that NEVER will your name, e-mail address, or
any other information you post here ever be sold, or given away to
anyone - your privacy is my TOP concern!
If you have any questions, suggestions, or problems, please
e-mail me and
let me know. With your input, I can make this site even better!
Also, I'm paying for this site out of my own pocket. If you
can make any donations to help pay for the hosting service, they
would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. If you can contribute any money,
please e-mail me
and let me know. With your help, I can continue to host this site.
Thanks for visiting, I'm really glad you're here!
In unity,

David

DID
YOU KNOWthat some of
the most amazing people in history were gay: painters,
poets, scientists, musicians, and even
mighty warrior-kings? Knowing some of these great
HEROES
of the past helps dispel many
MYTHS
about gay people, and looking past the
LEGENDS
that they have become reveals them to be people just like
you and me. The terms hetero- and homosexual were only made
up in the last
hundred
years or so, but the phenomenon of people falling in love
with members of their own gender is as old as humanity. The
heroes of
GayHeroes.com
lived a long time ago,
and "proof" of their sexuality is sometimes hard to come by,
(heck, there's not al l
that much "proof" that I am gay!) but in these cases
the evidence is pretty convincing. Here at
GayHeroes.com
we'll give you enough information for you to be able to
judge for yourself. A feeling of being "different" is one of
the keys to genius, and gay people should know that many of
history's great geniuses felt just the way they do.
Not every story here at
GayHeroes.com
is a happy one. But they show us that gay people can invoke
eternal expressions of love, show us the
amazing
grace of God, be Lionhearted, create the most magnificent
expressions of Christianity in painting, sculpture,
architecture, and music, create ravishing beauty from
overwhelming anguish, and can even die young, yet conquer
the world. Everyone should be aware that gay and lesbian
people are an important part of the magnificence of the
human experience. |

GAY SLANG DICTIONARY
2003 edition
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
also
known as
ROBERT SCOTT'S GAY SLANG
DICTIONARY
This Dictionary is also known as "ROBERT SCOTT'S GAY
SLANG DICTIONARY" and was written by By Robert Owen
Scott, Jr.
He ceased work on the dictionary in 2003 and asked
other sites to host it to keep it alive. The ODPS is the
ideal site to host the dictionary being powered by a
powerful and sophisticated, dedicated glossary program.
We make no comment on the content of the pages other
than to point out some of the language is *highly*sexually
explicit and possibly therefore offensive to some
people. Please be warned.
We are a Chicago area support group for married [to women] gay and
bisexual men, including those who are working to preserve their
marriage and those who are in the process of separation or divorce.
Age is not a factor. Members of the group range in age from the 20's
to the 70's.
We meet twice a month and interact as a support group rather than a
therapy group — providing a comfortable, safe and confidential
environment for you to talk, share your thoughts and feelings, and
be among others like yourself. We respect everyone's privacy and
confidentiality by not talking outside the meeting about persons or
situations. We do not judge one another or offer advice unless
requested. Often friendships formed within the group extend outside
the group. |
Background, Organization and Philosophy
Early in 1982, a group of men and women concerned
about human rights and dignity, who wanted to create a space for social
interaction outside of the bars, called a meeting to raise the
community's awareness about gay and lesbian issues. With that simple
beginning, Laguna Outreach was born. Although more formalized today,
Laguna Outreach retains much of its grassroots spontaneity.
Who We Are Today
Laguna Outreach is a nonprofit, all-volunteer
social and educational group serving the gay and lesbian community in
Southern California's Orange County area. We provide social alternatives
to the bars and clubs, including regular monthly activities and special
events throughout the year. At our bimonthly general meetings we present
distinguished speakers, panel discussions, and other programs of
interest to members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender
community and their friends and families. And as a member of the Orange
County Federation, we are networked with nearly fifty GLBT and AIDS
organizations serving every conceivable need.
