MISSION STATEMENT
Commercial Closet Association educates and influences the powerful advertising industry to understand, respect and include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) references in advertising to achieve a more accepting society while achieving successful business results.

VISION STATEMENT
Through our work, we see LGBT inclusion and equality as commonplace in effective mainstream advertising and in society.

In the early 1990s, Linda Chapman, Ana Simo and Mary Patierno started Dyke TV, the first (and only) cable access TV show by, for and about lesbians. Using the tagline, "Television to incite, subvert, provoke and organize!" the founders sought to document rising lesbian activism and to provide a viable platform for lesbian voices to enter the realm of popular culture. The first show aired in June 1993 on a Manhattan cable channel to a viewership probably composed entirely of Linda, Ana and Mary and all of their friends.

Since that modest beginning, The Show now airs on over 108 public access cable channels throughout the country, and for the past ten years has documented the lives of lesbians from Memphis to Modesto. As an organization, Dyke TV has developed into a community media resource center where lesbians can learn through the mentorship of experienced video mentors about all aspects of video production, video editing and web design. They can then use their skills to create segments for the Show or public screenings in New York City. Operating from a multi-racial, multi-generational perspective, we especially encourage those traditionally underrepresented in mainstream and LGBT programming, including lesbians of color, lower income women, seniors and youth. With these efforts, Dyke TV hopes to contribute realistic, inclusive lesbian voices to the public discourse about our lives.

Dyke TV is funded primarily by generous contributions from its constituency. We are currently looking for corporate and grant funding. If you would like to make a donation you can do so by credit card here or by sending a check to DTV Productions, 71 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11217.

Peter Barbosa and Garrett Lenoir are the founders of EyeBite Productions, a San Francisco video production company. Their video, De Colores, a documentary discussing homophobia faced by lesbian, gay, and bisexual people in the Latino community, won the ShowTime Latino Heritage Award, Best Documentary Short at the Los Angeles Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and Best of Show at the Berkeley Video Festival. De Colores has screened worldwide including Australia, Canada, Cuba, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, United Kingdom.

In the Life is a national television series in a newsmagazine format that reports on LGBT issues and culture. Segments from some of our past episodes have been devoted to topics such as Youth and Education, Health and AIDS, Arts and Culture, Workplace, Relationships and Family, and Global Issues.

About SIGLFF

Founded by Allen Cole, the Film Festival in Sacramento started in 1992, based on the student run gay and lesbian film festival at Fresno State. Organizers joined forces with the students from the California State University, Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Alliance and the brothers of the Delta Lambda Phi Fraternity and received grant funds from CSUS Associated Students Inc. to use as seed money and get the Festival started.

Held on October 8th, 1992, the first year was a big success, with a sold out, one evening event at the Crest Theater. We continue this tradition of presenting the Festival in early October to celebrate “National Coming Out Day.”

Each year brings growth and opportunities to show more films, give more money to beneficiaries, and support our newest program, providing completion grants to film makers.
