In March of 1999, while rehearsing for a
concert as part of a choral group in the Coachella Valley, a number of
gay men lamented that there was no gay men's chorus in Palm Springs.
Deciding to take action a group of five men agreed to spend whatever
time it took to get an underlying organization in place.
A community sing was held in late July, auditions were set up and music
selected, and in mid-September 1999 a new music group was born:
Caballeros, The Gay Men's Chorus of Palm Springs.
Although young by the standards of most other gay choruses, Caballeros
has in six years established itself quickly as one of the premier
singing groups in the Coachella Valley.
Caballeros currently includes approximately 75 members in five different
sections: Four of the sections are singing, including, Tenor I, Tenor
II, Baritone and Bass; and one section, Section V, is made up
of non-singing volunteers who support the singers in many way by helping
our concerts become a reality through back of the house-, promotional-
and administrative-support.

The Desert
Winds Freedom Band was founded by Gary Moline in the
Fall of 2001. The Band is a diverse group open to all gay and
gay-friendly people who like to play concert band music. It serves the
greater Palm Springs, California area located in the beautiful Coachella
Valley.
The Band has a core of dedicated musicians who love to make music
together. Some are professionals and others haven't played since they
graduated from high school many years ago. Prospective band
members are required to read music, to have basic skills playing a
band instrument, to attend rehearsals one night each week and to
regularly participate in concerts.

The Atlanta Feminist Women's Chorus, AFWC, mission is to honor
the unity, strength and diversity of women through musical performance.
We affirm and celebrate the commonalities and differences in our
communities. Through musical expression and action, we seek to inspire a
caring and accepting world.
It is the intent of the AFWC to bring women together to sing and
enjoy music that unites us and gives us confidence in ourselves and in
our community. It is the artistic mission of the AFWC to sing and
perform music that challenges, educates and liberates our members and
our audiences. We seek to develop a sensitivity in our choral work to
different sound qualities in order to express a range of emotions so
that we effectively communicate the text and music to our audiences. |

Our Mission
The staff, membership, board of directors,
and financial supporters of the
Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus
are committed to the following mission:
While a word or two has been refined over the
years, the intent of the AGMC's
mission has never changed. Through high-quality
musical performances, the AGMC does more than
entertain – it also educates by demonstrating
that gay men do not fit a stereotype, and their
talents benefit and enhance society. |

About Us
The Chicago Gay
Men’s Chorus (CGMC) has been an integral part of
Chicago’s cultural and gay communities since 1983. For the last two
decades, we have entertained audiences across the continent with
innovative musical programming exploring everything from love to
politics to the sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being
gay—often all at the same time. Our always-memorable performances have
included original musical revues; four popular productions celebrating
the Sidetrack show tune experience; full-length book musicals like
The Wizard of Oz, The Mikado and H.M.S. Pinafore; and
traditional choral concerts—all punctuated with our signature joyous
irreverence.
CGMC has traveled extensively across North America, representing Chicago
in cities including Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans. We
have also brought entertainment back home, inviting choruses from across
the United States and Europe to sing with us here in Chicago.

Outmusic is a network of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgendered musicians and supporters.
Performers, composers, lyricists, producers,
recording artists, activists, promoters, press/media
and even non-musicians who believe in LGBT music
have joined Outmusic over the years.
Outmusic was founded in 1990 when a group of
musicians met at Dan Martin and Michael Biello's
East Village apartment to share music and
experiences. This became the open mics, which are
still held monthly in New York.
Since its founding, Outmusic has participated in the
community in many ways. Some years the organization
sponsored festivals, other years there have been
compilation CDs or special events. Of course,
through it all there have always been the open
mics, where new and seasoned musicians still
come together with goals not unlike the original
sessions: to share music and experiences in a
safe and welcoming space.
Outmusic members are involved in festivals, concerts
and other events. They also collaborate on projects
and offer a valuable peer support system. As an
outgrowth of this support and recognition among
peers, 2001 introduced the first annual OUTMUSIC
AWARDS (OMAs).
