The Fairness Project

Founded in 2001 by Dr. Robert N. Minor, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Kansas, Lawrence for 26 years, The Fairness Project grows out of ten years of workshops Dr. Minor has led for religious, civic, business, and community groups regionally and nationwide. It was officially inaugurated with the publication of Dr. Minor's first popularly written book, Scared Straight: Why It's So Hard to Accept Gay People and Why It's So Hard to Be Human (St. Louis: HumanityWorks! 2001) which has been receiving laudatory reviews around the country since and has been a finalist for a number of literary awards.

The mission of The Fairness Project is simple and multi-faceted: to promote fair and positive understanding of all human beings regardless of sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, nationality, race, ethnicity, age, or abilities, by educating and advocating for fundamental structural change and personal healing. We are convinced that all issues of fairness are related, that all oppressions are connected, and that all discrimination must end so that every human being can live and flourish as a full human being. Dr. Minor continues to be a popular teacher, speaker, workshop leader, and writer on issues of sexual orientation, gender, and active change.

The P.E.R.S.O.N. Project Home Page

The P.E.R.S.O.N. Project is an informal, national network of organizations and individuals working to ensure that fair, accurate, and unbiased information regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and about the nature and diversity of sexual orientation is presented to America's youth as part of public school education.

The P.E.R.S.O.N. Project utilizes proactive strategies to improve the treatment of LGBT persons in K-12 educational systems. Advocates for The P.E.R.S.O.N. Project provide testimony before state and local boards of education, meet with educational policy makers at all levels of government, inform the public about educational equity issues, and furnish various resources for addressing these subjects in the classroom. We call for an end to the censorship of information about our communities in textbooks, course content, resource materials, and library offerings associated with public education.

Trans-Academics.org is a place where people of all genders can discuss gender theory, the trans community and its various identities, both as a part of the academic world and day-to-day life. This is a trans-friendly space and is open to people of all gender identities.

Trans-Academics.org is especially interested in supporting people who are considering or currently are working with trans related topics via research, writing, teaching, and other academic ventures. It is our hope that people working on trans related topics will be able to connect with other people working within the field. Trans-Academics.org firmly believes that there should be a strong connection between academics and activism, as such this site supports: students of all levels, professors, activists groups including campus Queer and LGBTQI programs, as well as people who are involved in the gender variant community on a more personal basis.

Institute for Gay and Lesbian Strategic Studies - Masquerading as impartial researchers, right-wing "think tanks" like The Heritage Foundation and The Family Research Council disseminate misinformation, distortions, and blatant lies about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people to policy makers, the news media, and the American public. They have used their so-called findings to oppose the Employment Nondiscrimination Act, adoption and parenting rights, domestic partnership benefits, same-sex marriage, and gays in the military. It is vital that we produce the unbiased, independent research that will counter these lies!
