From the cowardice that does not face new truth,
From the laziness that is contented with half-truth,
From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth;
Good Lord deliver me.

United Methodist Hymnal #597

Articles

There are several distinct series of articles that address various aspects of discrimination, injustice, unthinking dogmatic religious positions, and LGBTQ issues. All of the articles endorse emotional health and wholeness through self-acceptance. All promote unity through the improved understanding that results from dialog. All encourage us to work together to end discrimination and injustice by demonstrating love and respect for all people. Hopefully they will provide you with valuable insights.

Note: Rachel Miller is the author of all of these articles and has donated them to the public domain. You are free to reprint any of them in part or in their entirety without obtaining specific permission. There is no charge for their use. There is no requirement to credit the source. Please use them to help others.

Think!

That's what I think!
What do you think?

This series is designed to encourage us to engage in fresh thinking about various issues that confront us.

We Hold These Truths

Confronting societal and spiritual discrimination

This series of 6 articles has the most universal appeal. The articles discuss the importance of each of us confronting societal and spiritual discrimination and injustice against any other person or groups of persons.

Planting Loving Seeds

For Christians who feel excluded because of their differences

This series of 10 articles was designed for Christians who feel excluded from the mainstream of the church because of their differences. While the articles primarily address separation because of cross-dressing, they draw clear parallels to religious exclusion for any reason.

The "Femme" Mirror

Understanding for heterosexual male transvestites and those who love them

This series of 17 articles parallels the ideas expressed in my book, The Bliss of Becoming One!, and promote understanding for heterosexual male transvestites and those who love them. If you are a cross-dresser or care about someone who is, this series provides invaluable insights into the issues you face.

Spouses & Partners

Helping couples deal with cross-dressing issues

This series of 8 articles provides helpful ideas and approaches for couples to deal with cross-dressing issues. If your spouse or loved one is a cross-dresser, you should read this material and use it to engage in dialog with the cross-dresser. It describes how my wife and I learned how to deal effectively with these issues and how we were able to integrate cross-dressing into our lives rather than keeping it separate.

Our Gender Family

Creating a healthy and unified gender community

This series of 18 articles promotes creating a healthy and unified gender community. It provides helpful advice for all transgendered people as well as gays and lesbians. If you are an LGBTQ person, these articles will help you to understand the importance of all of us "hanging together" for strength, so we don't "hang separately." We must learn to work together in order to integrate into mainstream society. The articles provide many ideas on how to create that sense of community.

Cross-Dressing & the Bible - This material is designed for a discussion with religious leaders and other spiritually-oriented persons who object to cross-dressers on Biblical grounds. It requires a willingness on their part to objectively consider the Scriptural issues. It provides discussion points to ask and answer two basic questions:

  • #1 - Does Deuteronomy 22:5 declare that cross-dressing is intrinsically wrong?

  • #2 – Does it automatically condemn any form of cross-dressing as a sin requiring repentance in order to be accepted into the Christian church and to be accepted by God?

Do You Love Me? - A poem that I used very successfully in telling family and friends about my cross-dressing.  It puts cross-dressing into the perspective of the overall person whom they already know.

A Spiritual Seminar for Transgendered People - A day long spiritual seminar that was conducted at the Holiday En-Femme in Houston, Texas on November 12, 1999.  It was designed to enable transgendered people to answer religious criticism and to help them to find spiritual homes. It is as useful today as it was then.
